Description
Improve RSS Aggregator article:
- Add motivation/elevator pitch in the intro. Explain why this module is useful. What can it do to make your site better, more attractive, more popular.
- A common stumbling point is when you set up a new feed and discover that it has no content. Explain how to execute the feed content update manually and with a scheduled job.
- Explain how to check whether new content was retrieved. Show how to use the Data JCR Browser. Explain how the feed URLs, filters and data items of an aggregate are stored.
- What is aggregation? Why would you want to collect content from external sites and display it on your site?
- What is syndication? Why would you want to syndicate selected content from your site and provide it as an RSS feed?
- Write procedures for:
- Aggregating two different external feeds, filtering their content by metadata, and displaying the aggregate feed on a page.
- Syndicating Magnolia content to a feed and displaying the feed on the page.
- What are the different paragraphs that display the result? Link to the paragraph reference, don't duplicate content unless necessary.
- The module bootstraps two sample aggregate feeds: news and MagnoliaBlogs. The first one does not retrieve new content from BBC News and Wired Magazine even if you try. Investigate why this is (outdated URLs?) and enter a Jira ticket to update the bootstrap file. The second is also wrong: Philipp's blog has moved and Vivian doesn't work at Magnolia anymore. Examples should work out of the box or users get frustrated.
- Improve something else. I'm sure I haven't listed everything that is missing from this article.
