The Apps screen supports both regular and client groups to group apps. Regular groups use a combination of fore- and background color from a closed, defined set of color schemes. These have been selected to work well against the green background. By contrast, client groups always have a white background, but their foreground color used for text and icons may be freely chosen by a customer.
Tobias has detected that both these app groups use a single color definition property. This is wrong because:
- There's no way to pick a text color other than white. We actually define darker text colors for those regular groups with lighter backgrounds.
- The color is freely choosable, whereas it should be restricted to only come from the small set of colors available for regular groups.
- For client groups, the background color should always be white (except on click), but the text color should be indeed freely choosable.
The color schemes for regular groups, an example for a client group as well as examples for the active, pressed/tapped and hover states for group tiles can be found in the style guide: http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/display/UX/Style+guides+for+the+Magnolia+shell#StyleguidesfortheMagnoliashell-HeaderandAppsscreen
