Secondary menus (or: context menus) in Apps are an already much requested feature - and actually a feature that was planned from the beginning, but has not been fully specified until very recently.
Secondary menus not only shorten the path from where you select an item to the action in the action bar you'd like to execute on it - and thus they solve a problem which would become a usability issue for regular users soon. They also convey a sense of touch for they item they are attached to.

Secondary menus in Magnolia are realized using a UI element called action popup. These elements are also used in other, similar cases, which are also described on that page, but are not part of this issue. Note, however, that this issue deals only with secondary menus in the list, tree and thumbnail views.
