Description
English speakers often use GMT as a synonym for Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). However, Coordinated Universal Time (abbreviated to UTC) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. (Wiki)
Moreover, in specialist areas, such as navigation, GMT "... is considered equivalent to UT1 ... but this meaning can differ from UTC by up to 0.9 s. The term GMT should not thus be used for technical purposes."
In Magnolia, we should hence :
1) Move away from using GMT as the baseline in the calendar widget (date field with time: true)
and the associated hover popup:

2) refer to UTC as to an undisputed baseline in the timezone setting of user profile:

Note: When referring to UTC, use plus and/or minus with the UTC abbreviation, not just UTC1:
For example:
- Central European Time (CET; UTC+01:00) - Default
- Eastern Standard Time (EST; UTC-05:00)
- Greenwich Mean Time (GMT; UTC±00:00)
- Nepal Standard Time (NPT; UTC+05:45)
