 Description

Steps to reproduce

  1. When you add an image via the Amplience dialog
  2. The browser view no longer defaults to search

This drastically slows down our Authors as they typically copy file names into the search bar and select them. Adding extra clicks to a common task slows them down and we're worried about performance costs at scale.

I've attached pre & post upgrade screenshots

Pre upgrade: The search field is instantly available to paste into

Post Upgrade: The search icon needs to be clicked before the search field is available

I've added a couple of clips of both pre and post upgrade.

Steps involved Pre upgrade:

  1. Click on "Select New"
  2. Click and paste into search field immediately
  3. Click enter to search
  4. Select image
  5. Save changes

Steps involved Post upgrade:

  1. Click on "Select New"
  2. Click on search icon
  3. Click and paste into search field
  4. Click enter to search
  5. Select image
  6. Save changes

The post-upgrade is faster, but that's because amplience is faster. We're concerned that under high load it may take some time for each click to register and break up the flow of our Authors.

Our Authors use the title to search for images in the search field. What I suggested as a possible enhancement/alternative fix is to allow them to paste that within the amplience field as they can now do with the amplience ID. As seen in no-browser-paste (but with title instead).

I checked with core team and we actually cannot change or configure this behaviour.
But this shouldn’t be an issue as technically it’s the same number of actions. In previous UI, authors were opening the dialog, clicking on the search text field and pasting. Now they open the dialog, clicking on the magnifier and pasting. Argos team confirmed that actually it is fine
