 Description

The tutorial was originally written on the basis of the CE demo bundle. Before changing the recommendation we need to test.

Test https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS56/Setting+up+a+Magnolia+bundle+for+local+development using:

  • magnolia-community-webapp (no demo)
  • magnolia-cloud-dev-webapp

If the latter has been tested, please update the page https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS56/Setting+up+a+Magnolia+bundle+for+local+development

You are prompted to choose a Magnolia bundle, choose:
- 8) magnolia-cloud-dev-webapp
- 3) magnolia-community-demo-webapp{quote

Instead of (3) recommend (2) (magnolia-community-webapp)

Looking at the code produced with the tutorial:
The tutorial is completely independent from the demo, it needs no demo content and no configured site.
This is evidenced at latest when the light module - developped locally - is installed on the cloud.

There is one little thing which could be tricky with the webapp with no demo. Browsing on the public context maybe a bit tricky, since the public context has a redirect, which e.g. gets removed by the demo.

I think it would be more important to test whether things work with the magnolia-cloud-dev-webapp - which I expect, but not sure whether somebody ever has tried it.

OK.

Locally both webapps work as expected.
magnolia-cloud-dev-webapp logs some errors from connector modules, but that's a known issue.

And:
http://localhost:8080/magnoliaPublic redirects to http://localhost:8080/magnoliaPublic/.magnolia/admincentral - on both webapps.
For this we should add a tip to remove /modules/ui-admincentral/virtualUriMappings/default on the public instance.

The  note concerning the virtualURI mapping / redirect is there too now.
Time to close this one.
