A user asked how to add a listener that would update the cache for the public instance when content is activated in the forum thread http://forum.magnolia-cms.com/forum/thread.html?threadId=3300574a-b76f-4bc1-835e-527eb0bf0285. The response doesn't seem to be covered by documentation (at least directly). A use case would make the answer readily available to users. |

I am changing the title of this issue to tackle the wider problem. Registering event listeners programmatically is completely missing from documentation. ObservationUtil class is briefly mentioned in Configuration mechanisms but is not discussed in Observation where it should be. Use the forum post as a "mini use case" in the Observation article to explain the motivation: why and when do you need to edit code as opposed to configuring event listeners in AdminCentral? |
