 Description

Describe the Jackrabbit Janitor in our clustering documentation. Janitor is a task that cleans up old entries from the journal. The journal is a log where cluster nodes store information, identifying items they modified. The journal can grow huge. The Janitor prevents this by cleaning up periodically. As a downside, once you enable the Janitor it is not so easy to add new cluster nodes anymore.

Describe:

  • Issue, symptoms: journal grows big, a new cluster node takes a long time to catch up with others
  • Solution: Janitor, how to enable, basic config
  • Drawback: adding new cluster nodes not so easy anymore

Janitor is Jackrabbit functionality so just summarize/paraphrase the issue and link to Jackrabbit documentation.
