We decided to remove this feature.
Please, document that the defaultValue property for multiselect is not available.
Sorry for inconvenience.

Documented that the defaultValue property is not available for multiselect.

Default value for multiselect is available in Magnolia 4.5.10+. Note that only one single value (not list of values) is supported.
Updated http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS45/Controls as follows:
- Common properties section > The defaultValue table row now reads: “Pre-filled value displayed in the field. The value can be overwritten by the user. Available for all controls except multiselect in Magnolia CMS 4.5.10 and earlier.”
- multiselect section > The warning box now reads: “The defaultValue property that is common to all dialogs is only available for the multiselect control in Magnolia 4.5.10+. Note! that only a single defaultValue is supported.”
Changed the warning box to an Info box and reworded to read "Magnolia 4.5.10+. The defaultValue property that is common to all dialogs is also available for the multiselect control and supports a single defaultValue." - http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS45/Controls#Controls-multiselect
