 Description

Suggestion of improvement:

  • With story LIVECOPY-102 we implemented the visual enhancement so that when a component is completely decoupled from the master, the component's banner highlights this by turning WHITE.
  • A further improvement might also be that: if you see that a field inside a component is protected, the field will turn a different colour (e.g. WHITE)
  • Also please add tooltips over hovering the lock-updates-icon so to provide a short explanation of the icon itself

Notes

Current behavior --> If a field is protected, the component color will turn red. Even if the component is not protected, only a field within the component is

Proposal --> if only the field is protected within the component, we should color the component to a different color so to indicate that: the component is not locked, but one (or more) field within it are

I recommend to add tooltips over hovering the lock-updates-icon. The icon alone is not self-explanatory.

Hi ldelnevo,

As this ticket is not started yet and the ticket is only investigation to see if implementation is easy/hard/extremely hard within Magnolia, so i think it's ok to also cover Anja's comment without changing points of the ticket .

Thanks.

Hi ldelnevo,

  • About changing color of component to differentiate between 2 cases (whole component locked vs some field of component locked), we can do it relatively easy (about 2-3 pts)
  • About showing tooltip text when hovering on icons, this is very complicated as we need that feature implemented in core/ui first, then adapt it. But with default priority, they will not tackle it soon as there is higher priority features/bug fixes.

Thank you.

Fine to go ahead with the colors. Puzzling that tooltips are complicated  but i'll take that on the list for core UX/UI improvements.
