 Description

Avis Budget Group currently manage over 25 individual separate websites from a Global content node using LiveCopy.

When we push content to all these sites we have to go into each site and manually relink live copy pages to ensure any links are pointing to the local site rather than the global one. This workflow is unsustainable due to the number of sites we manage.

Requirements

  1. To improve workflow and speed up publishing Avis require an auto-reconciliation option when LiveCopying that will automatically rewire any links to the local page.
  2. The locking of components that are auto reconciled should be optional.
  3. There should be feedback on any pages where links can't be reconciled.

Dev solution

  1. When a user pushes content to a site, have an option (checkbox or similar, maybe in action definition?) to automate rewiring live copy pages.
  2. Have a separate radio button option to lock auto reconciled components. Default would be to not lock.
  3. If links are unable to be reconciled then an alert should be shown to the user showing the page path of pages where the link can't be reconciled.

Hi mdainton,

Thanks for the suggestion, I have one question for you to clarify the requirements.

What kind of locking mechanism are we talking about here? I assume it is locking a node/component to prevent access/modification to it while it's being published.

Can you please elaborate on that and tell us more about the use case to help us understand the use case better.

Cheers,

Ilgun

Currently when a user pushes Master content to the local sites and then uses the Relink live copy pages function the link will be re-linked but the component containing the link will be locked. See Protecting content from master content changes on this page - https://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/display/SERVICES/Live+Copy

This should be optional when a user selects to reconcile links when pushing Master content change.
