 Description

When user right-clicks text or an image within an FCK Editor field and chooses "Cut", Firefox pops up a dialog that never finishes rendering, becomes unresponsive, and must be force-quit. One can work around this by using the keyboard commands, but completely crashing the browser is pretty frustrating behavior.

This is propably a fck editor issue of the current version we use. There is a task for updating to the latest stable fck editor version. Hope this will fix the issue.

I discovered it with using the text past button as well

while this is fixed in newer versions of fck, the menus will not be useable directly, since fck issues a warning message: see http://wiki.fckeditor.net/Troubleshooting#head-19710c7412aa28cda654070d371ead5f5f21a02b

Security warning when using toolbar or context menu cut/copy/paste commands. How to enable them to work properly?

Firefox has very rigid security features that blocks script based application, like FCKeditor, to have access to the computer clipboard. So, when using this browser, it is quite common to see a warning like the following when clicking in the "Cut" button on the toolbar:

"Your browser security settings don't permit the editor to automatically execute cutting operations. Please use the keyboard for that (Ctrl+X)"

There are ways to configure Firefox, granting the necessary permissions to FCKeditor to make pasting operations. Detailed info can be found here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Granting_JavaScript_access_to_the_clipboard

To make the configurations easy and very intuitive (integrated with the FCKeditor interface), I recommend the following extension:

The warning dialog that's in the latest FCK Editor was all I was hoping for when submitting this ticket originally. As long as doing the wrong thing doesn't lock up one's browser, we can certainly live with the "use the keyboard" workaround. Thanks!

FCKEditor has now been updated in trunk; will be available with rc4.
