the UI filter does a redirect ot the context path. In case the contextPath is empty this leads to a reload of the page.

As per http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/2.5/docs/servlet-2_5-mr2/javax/servlet/http/HttpServletRequest.html#getContextPath() , it's safe to just add a / after the contextPath, when we need the "root" url of a webapp. (Same doc for 2.4, just couldn't find the link)
