 Description

It would be very handy if the update status page was available when the automatic updating is enabled.

Do you mean having somewhere a page that sums what happened during the last startup, basically ? (an update report if there was any, etc) If so, that would anyway be handy even when the automatic update disabled. Along with this, we need a status page for modules, so I'm going to link this to the issue related to updating/improving the config info page.

When we use manual updating, we can leave our browser on the status page and it will tell us how far we are into the update ("64 of 144 files"). When I set the property to automatically update, that status page was not available. The request was to have the status page available whenever the site is going through it's update.

Another request (while I'm updating this ) is to have the title of the status page change when the update is complete and it is ready to start. I often have a different tab open while it's going through the update and it is not obvious when it is done.

I see, that's interesting. (sorry for the late reply)
This sounds somehow related to MAGNOLIA-1629 and what I just added to MAGNOLIA-2373, where only an admin could "start" the update (either by "clicking" or by having set the appropriate property before startup) and other users would get a temporary page (be it "dynamic" - ie giving an update on the status - or "static" (i.e "service not available, try again in a few moments")
I'll create another task for your second issue, which is more likely to be added quickly.

See MAGNOLIA-2374 for the status page's title update.

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on issues with a higher impact, and more votes.
Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.
I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If the issue is still relevant please feel free to reopen it or create a new issue.
