 Description

Using the simpleSearch taglib doesn't working for searching items out of the data workspace, while a similar query in the JCR-Query Tool does returning me an entry.
That's what my tag looks like:

<cmsuimpleSearch query="presse" var="results" repository="data" useSimpleJcrQuery="false" itemType="mgnl:dataItem"/>

No errors are shown in the log, just no entries returned.

For the record:

  • the generated query looks like //[@jcr:primaryType='mgnl:content']//[jcr:contains(., 'presse')] (when useSimpleJcrQuery is set back to true)
  • Oli said this query, and the probably more correct //[@jcr:primaryType='mgnl:dataItem']//[jcr:contains(., 'presse')] both returned results from the jcr query tool.
  • useSimpleJcrQuery apparently had no impact on the results

As a side note, I'm no xpath-query expert, but I wonder if the first selector on primaryType has any use at all.

Not an expert either, but would not //element(*, mgnl:content)[jcr:contains(., 'presse')] provide same results and be faster then join of two serches both starting from root? (which, if i'm not wrong, is what the original query does).

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on issues with a higher impact, and more votes.
Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.
I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If the issue is still relevant please feel free to reopen it or create a new issue.
