 Description

In the admin GUI, change the template of an already activated page.

Although the template is actually change, the activation icon stays green! If you refresh the admin GUI, the activation icons changes to yellow. It looks like you should refresh the GUI once a template has been changed.

This is irritating to the user and leads to an atmosphere of mistrust towards the tool. This is why I marked this bug a "major".

Since templates are "external" to the magnolia GUI this works as designed - a change of a template is not a change of content - its a different concept. The template only determines how stuff is rendered, and it should be possible at any time to change the templates without affecting the status of the content.

Original description misunderstood. Activation state should be updated as soon as one selects a different template for a page.

Here is what I do:

  • I fire up admin central on the author instance
  • in the tree view under "website" I change the template of a page:
if it e.g. uses template A, I change it to use template B instead.

The activation state remains "green". If I refresh the view, the
activation state of the page changes to "yellow".

Since everything which is "green" is published and thus has not been
changed, I think a change of the template of a page to some other template
has to also change the activation state to "yellow", so that it becomes
clear to the user that this change also needs to be activated in order
to get reflected on the public instance.

Activation state actually changes, only th GUI is not refreshed. If you click refresh, you will see that the state button changes from green to yellow.

We're closing this issue as outdated as it was reported for 4.4.x or earlier versions which are no longer supported. Don't hesitate to reopen or create a new ticket in case this is still relevant and you'll experience it on 4.5.x or later versions.
