It seems that the spool servlet does only work on file names that do not contain spaces. As a workaround, set the server xml to use tomcat instead of the spool servlet. Simply add <Context path="/magnolia/docroot" docBase="magnolia/docroot" debug="0"/> in your server.xml (assuming that your context is "magnolia"). Of course this will circumvent access control on the docroot stuff.
