 Description

After a publisher proceeds a workitem, he can't be sure if it was successful, unless he reopens the Inbox. Is it possible to generate an "Alert window" or so, witch shows the Publisher that the proceeding process was successfully finished?

Hi Roland,

The message you propose in "proceeding-process_2a.gif" isn't necessarily correct. The process is /not/ finished when this box is displayed. It was only "successfully" started. However, you have a point that we might want to make this message a little more generic - i.e workflows could be started for other processes than activation. This is possibly something that will be simpler to implement with Magnolia 5.0

The asynchronous nature of the workflow does not allow for "proceeding-process_2b.gif" (nor to get a "success" message, once the activation happened), unless we'd have a poll mechanism (or websockets or else) that would poll the server regularly for messages to be displayed to the user. Again, something which is much more likely to happen in Magnolia 5.0.

As the further processing in the workflow is asynchronously we can't provide synchronous feedback. We attempt to improve workflow status monitoring in Magnolia 5.0. If possible you will get a notifications (mini counter on the inbox icon) as soon a message enters the inbox.
