 Description

most of the users who installs magnolia don't read the instructions and they get lost because of memory errors during bootstrapping.

Before a definitive 2.1 release we should try adding something like:

  • direct all the bootstrapping log to a separate file
  • intercept bootstrapping errors (i.e. understand if bootstrap has started but the configuration is incomplete)
  • in this situation, when a request is made to magnolia, redirect to a page with a warning "bootstrap has failed, etc etc" with the full bootstrapping log.

separate log (bootstrap.log) added

mostly done, we only need a nice error page...

is this still a block or do we postpone to the next version?

Comment by Fabrizio Giustina [ 18/Jul/05 ]

everything is done, except for the inclusion of the error log in the page with a nice layout...
I think we can close the issue, there is only one minor improvement left stated as a todo in the code.

Change fix version to RC2
