 Description

To reproduce define a component w/ inner area and add the component itself inside this area as the only available component.

This must have something to do with the focus model. On the other hand we have a similar use case under demo-project home and the Link List inside the Internal Page Teasers. There the area-element is holding an ul-element to surround the components.

Is the fix version correct? How can I influence the priority so it gets higher than neutral? We are trying to work around this issue in 4.5.8 but a resolution from Magnolia would help tremendously.

This fix contains two parts:

1] Showing also edit bars of inner areas:

  • Before:
    • the inner empty areas are visible (see emptyAreas.png).
    • the inner non-empty areas are not visible (see innerNonEmptyAreaBefore.png - Area 1 is not visible).
  • After:
    • the inner non-empty areas have visible editbars (see innerNonEmptyAreaAfter.png).
    • As consequence, the edit bars of linkList areas are visible too - editors don't have to click multiple times to edit those. (see innerNonEmptyAreaAfter.png).

2] Showing bars also for top-parent areas:

  • Before:
    • Only inner area is visible when the parent area contains only empty components (see parentAreaBefore.png). It's confusing - where is the parent area?
  • After:
    • Also the parent area (the last area on the path to root) is visible when the parent area contains only empty components (see parentAreaAfter.png).

This issue doesn't occur on master - Page editor 5.0 shows edit bars of inner areas (see 5.0.png).
