Shouldn't the properties files be stored in UTF8 encoding?

no java (and jstl) need them stored in the this silly format. you can use
maven java2utf8

to convert them all (it creates a utf8 directory)

Are you sure about that?

Wouldn't the system property

-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8

help?

I'm not sure, though. I thought for the sake of consistency that might be a good idea.

I was not able to do so. If you are, please tell me how. I tryed to pass the property in the jre configuration and i manipulated the ConfigLoader: no effect
