 Description

Edit button (in the bottom menu) in each data tree should work as the "open" button in website, or simply like the one in the right-click menu.
After selecting an item, when you click the Refresh button in the bottom menu, the 'Edit item' button remains enabled, without an item selected. If you click "Edit" and save the item, the rootpath of the item is changed (or better, damaged).

Instead of the "Edit" button, the "New" one should be available when no item is selected.
In version 1.3.2 the "New" button is never re-enabled after an item is selected (even after clicking the refresh button), in version 1.4 this seems corrected but the problem with the "Edit button" is still there.

Opened as critical just because it's easy to damage stored data following the steps above.

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on issues with a higher impact, and more votes.
Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.
I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If the issue is still relevant please feel free to reopen it or create a new issue.
