 Description

when launching the installer, it will eventually display the message openwfe-1.7.2.1.jar permission denied, see screenshot - so I can't install.

do you get that systematically?? for this one specific file??

Comment by Boris Kraft [ 05/Jun/09 ]

Can't say because the installation does not continue after that message

I mean systematically, i.e if you try again, do you get the same error for the same file ?

Comment by Boris Kraft [ 05/Jun/09 ]

yes always the same error

Comment by Magnolia International [ 05/Jun/09 ]

Did you have an installation in that same folder previously ?
The rest of the problem you reported on the wiki saying

There are a lot of read/write/execute permissions issues for a lot of folders (cache, repositories, templates, logs,...)

would confirm this suspicion. Could it be that this other instance had different file permissions ? (a different user maybe?)

Greg, you are right, it seems this was the problem. Sorry for that. It tried to overwrite an existing previous installation. This might still be cause for concern though.

Agreed, hence MGNLEE-146. Not the most elegant solution, but definitely much less time-consuming and risky than actually supporting updates through the installer. wdyt ?

Comment by Boris Kraft [ 06/Jun/09 ]

I think thats a good solution. In real life deployment nobody would use the installer anyways
