Nope we still produce it. Or more precisely pmundt produces the installer. But with a crude setup of Jave 1.6 and 1.8.
I think we should decide to either stop doing it at all or invest time to create a working setup.

Analyzed access logs on files.magnolia-cms.com during 21.1. - 02.02.2017 (13 days):

  • DMG installer is 0.3% of all downloads, very minimal usage. Half of that are search engines.
  • ZIP installer is not offered through files.m.com at all although we store the file in Nexus.
  • JAR installer is the most popular download, 50.6% of all downloads.

Conclusions:

  • Stop producing the DMG and ZIP installers.
  • Keep producing the JAR installer.
  • Update the installer tool to work with Java 1.8 if needed.
