 Description

When we activate a website node, the author instance will freeze until the activation finishes. It could take up to 15 minutes, so people cannot enter anything into the system at the meantime. We used a performance profiler to look into the issue. We found there were two methods that took up most of the time, which are:

info.magnolia.cms.filters.ServletDispatchingFilter:doFilter [Web] [ 37.74% - Total Time = 235690 Exclusive Time = 212848 Count = 7 ]
info.magnolia.module.exchangesimple.ReceiveFilter:doFilter [Web] [ 61.61% - Total Time = 384777 Exclusive Time = 57070 Count = 5 ]

We wonder if the future release can do activations without freezing other threads on the system.

Could you please provide more details on the issue? Does UI freeze completely displaying only "Loading ...." message or is it just very slow while there is high load on the server? Does it happen even when you activate single node or only when activating node with subnodes? Do you use LDAP for authentication by any chance? And could you please try if problem still occurs with 3.6M1 (there were some significant changes to way how activation is done)?
Thanks.
