 Description

It seems that certain conditions may cause imaging to go haywire.

To reproduce this:

  • installed the EE 4.3.7 bundle (me, with Postgres PM)
  • surfed the demo site, go to "Multimedia"->"Image Gallery"
  • click on a magnifying glass

Activity monitor under OS X shows that the org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap process starts eating up CPU (see first attachment). If you click on one of the magnifying glasses on the page in order to get the high resolution images, the lightbox-like overlay does show up and works, but shows no images (see second attachment).
Leaving the page doesn't help.

Please refer to third attachment for a thread dump.

Might be related to MGNLETK-36 the resizer used now is definitively more costly, but any quick and dirty solutions produce visual artifacts ...

Just for the record, as I don't think this matters here: also checked with latest available Java 5 version (1.5.0_24) on Snow Leopard with the same result. My impression was that the process consumes between 30-50% less CPU, though, but take that with a grain of salt.

Found another occurrence of the seemingly same problem:

  • install EE 4.3.7
  • go to Demo Features site, Aggregation Paragraphs->Contact address
-> bootstrap process starts eating CPU cycles again

Two more thread dumps, this time from Demo features site.

This is caused by MGNLIMG-72

The root cause of this was in issue MGNLIMG-72, which has been fixed.
