 Comments
Comment by Luca Boati [ 27/Aug/10 ]
  • user is able to mark a post as spam
  • spam moderator page added, where it can simply check posts marked as spam and evaluate them (spam/not spam).

todo: send email to moderator?

It's 90% complete, we have to only decide what to do with the message sent by user, send an email to administrator/moderator or store it somewhere?

If I understand correctly (I don't remember this being on our plan), this feature should be called "notify moderation". It's meant for end-users, forum visitors, to report spam but also other types on innappropriate content, to moderators, so they can take action.
A simple default impl of this could send an email to moderation, a more advanced one could store the data (incriminated message id, user message, timestamp) in some sort of queue that moderators process one-by-one

the default implementation of this features on front-end side set a flag on the message incriminated and should send a mail to administrator with the user motivations, on back-end side the moderator get a list of messages marked as spam where he can decide the message destiny, kill it, or mark it as not spam. Until moderator does not take an action, the messages remain just marked as spam, and it is not hide on front-end side.
what's next? we can keep this implementation for the first release and do an advanced improvement soon.

"Mark as spam" on forum.magnolia-cms.com is not working for me.

java.lang.RuntimeException: messageId is mandatory and is missing from the request.

Comment by Luca Boati [ 21/Sep/10 ]

on forum.magnolia-cms.com is not working because "mgnl" class is not accessible in a public instance (same as Quote,ReplyTo,validate, invalidate functions)
so.. do not use mgnl class for front end js functions
I'm going to fix it.
thanks

TODO: rename the feature (including templates, js, functions, methods, ...) to "report" instead of "spam", which is redundant and inadequate (we already have an automatic spam-detection feature, which is totally unrelated)

Moved from fix to version 4.0 to Ideas.

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on issues with a higher impact, and more votes.
Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.
I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If the issue is still relevant please feel free to reopen it or create a new issue.
