 Description

Customer feedback:
In the messageEdit dialog the author and inReplyTo fields have a ‘tree’ property. This seems an old property type from Magnolia 4? In any case it does not seem to work anymore. The fields are now just text fields. I guess the idea was that you could link to an existing user / forum message respectively. That would be very nice indeed. Can this be re-implemented? I guess you would do this with a Link property in Magnolia 5? I have not looked into this myself. Surely would be nice if this could be fixed/enhanced.

Edgar is right.
Both fields

  • /modules/forum/dialogs/messageEdit/form/tabs/tabMain/fields/inReplyTo and
  • /modules/forum/dialogs/messageEdit/form/tabs/tabMain/fields/author

are not usable currently.

Either we remove it completely - or we try to implement what Edgar proposed:

  • inReplyTo: displaying the chooseDialog to select the message (from forum content-app).
  • author: that's more tricky ... we do not have a content-app which shows only forum-users. At least in theory, the author to choose could be from Users or from Public-Users. Anyway, in most cases it would be one from a public user group (pug). But then it is not sure whether all users in the pug have forum permissions.

Currently we plan to change it so that it is identical to 1.3.4 in M4.5, where the fields are read-only.

In the future, we will consider making the improvement of making them link fields (see MGNLFORUM-279)
