 Description

We use JPG as default output format, this is causing some issues with transparent PNGs - their background is turning to black.

Hi,

please see SUPPORT-11767, it has something to do with default jre PNGImageWriter losing transparency on resize rather jpeg being default output format.

Regards

Dominik

I think PNG as a default imagge format is a bad idea as the compression is typically worse then with JPEG.

To handle the transparency issue - I think it would be better to have a default thaat the image format does not get changed. PNG in, then PNG out. JPEG in, then JPEG out.
