 Description

Currently, the overall search experience (SearchX) is perceived as slow by editors and marketers who want to find relevant content fast. It also returns a limited range of results which slows down your ability to quickly find the content you are looking for.

We will look at Usability and bring in a more intuitive workflow that will enable editors to find and manage relevant content in a seamless and efficient way.

Phase 1 covered Top Nav & In-App Search for Pages & Assets app MGNLPER-166

Phase 2 covered Content App in-app search & choosers MGNLPER-211

This epic covers Phase 3. Global Search results

As an author working with big data set, when I do not exactly where the item is located; I want to find relevant content across Magnolia fast

  • Distinguish the Global Search, across all apps, from the In-App search with a visual overlay
  • Display results based on Relevancy by default and provide additional sorting options
  • Give more visibility to Filtering and Sorting options for the Global Search

Overarching improvements of SearchX

  • Seamless results if you search in Global vs In-App
  • Improved information hierarchy, legibility, and other usability enhancements when showing results
  • Provide meaningful and seamless information in the tables' columns for consistency
  • "Go back where I left" Ability to go back to my search results, rather than starting from scratch
  • Display path/URL to help identify the right item
