 Description

When you first install and try to open rest tools, it does not work but simply shows "Can't read from server. It may not have the appropriate access-control-origin settings."

To get it to work one must set /modules/rest-tools/config/apiBasepath to the correct value. (This is documented at http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/REST+module)

Having a feature start with a non-helpful error message is a bug.

Suggestions:

  • Best solution would be to fix related ticket MGNLREST-52
  • During installation there should be an alert message instructing user to set the value properly.
  • On app startup - if the apiBasepath is not properly set, the app should display a helpful message telling user what needs to be set in config and possibly a direct link to the value in the config.

What is the difference to MGNLREST-52? I would consider this a duplicate!?
