 Description

For now, the usage of swfobject.js is stupidly hardcoded in the header.inc.ftl template. It belongs to the paragraph.

Should we work on integrating it with fckeditor or fallback to whatever fckeditor provides instead ?
Should there be a separate paragraph ?

Why is the fck editor flash integration not sufficient?

Comment by Magnolia International [ 30/Sep/08 ]

accessibility, browser/flash plugin detection, hiding the hideousness of the embed/<object>, etc:

http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/wiki/documentation

Now for a first version, we could rely on the default fck implementation, but I'm sure Timo will agree we need to go further.

Fine for me (just wanted to know why we have to invest time on it)

Comment by Boris Kraft [ 30/Sep/08 ]

Why would anybody want to upload flash through FCK? FCK should be a separate control/paragraph at all times. We should limit FCK usage as much as possible

Comment by Magnolia International [ 30/Sep/08 ]

Because it's part of the content - think of an article revolving around a video.

But even then, as the (admittedly vague) description of the task says, this is not necessarily about fck integration, but about the usage the swfobject.js in itself in our paragraphs, be they fck-based or not.

Even if that is beyond the actual point of this issue: if you need text around a flash element then you probably want to use a Magnolia paragraph to make sure all the elements are in the right place.

Flash paragraph is implemented.

Christian: that doesn't really tell much about the original question - i.e how swfobject.js is integrated/used now.

flash is injected by init-behaviour.js for all elements with the following structure

<div class="flash">
    <a href="url/file.swf">alternative text</a>
</div>

Cool, thanks
