the wiki table is not usable to perform sorting or summing up estimations

There have been just to many obstacle:

  • excel on OSX can read csv with linebreak!
  • excel plugin does not encode äöü properly

So we tried this and that and used finally to much time for it.

You find the sequence of search replace (regex) patterns we finally used here

I think it is more convenient if we keep the wiki table and I transform it to excel when ever I have to. There are the following benefits:

  • faster editing (linking, ...)
  • you see the actual changes a person did (not only that the file has changed)

if we really need a spreadsheet, why not use google docs for it - we'd see all the changes and could actually work simultaneously on it.

Good Point!

The tricky thing is that the excel sheet contains wiki markup witch needs to be interpreted (links, coloring, ...). But sure we can solve that.

I will check it out.
