Sprint: 5.2-rc2

 Description

We currently have apps with a similar purpose spread over several groups. I propose we re-shuffle the apps on the Apps screen a bit in order to clean up this part of the info architecture a bit again.

We'll have to wrestle with the bug that a group currently can't hold more than 9 apps at a time (see MGNLUI-2295), but I think for now we're just fine if we can make some compromises.

The attached screen shots show all changes I propose. They are:

  • move "Google Sitemaps" and "RSS Aggregator" to the MANAGE group - they're both admin tools that resemble the other apps in that group in that they're content related.
  • change the icon of "Google Sitemaps" to the generic app icon (icon-app) - we don't have a proper icon yet and I don't want to use the same icon as Categories, if this app is so prominently visible.
  • change the icon of "RSS Aggregator" (icon-rssfeed)
  • swap "JCR Queries" and "Mail tools" - "Mail tools" definitely belongs to TOOLS, but bumps into the "no more than 9 apps per group" bug unless we move out another app. I think "JCR Queries" is the most likely candidate to go into DEV
  • re-order the apps in the DEV group to make apps come before tools before the samples: "Messages", "JCR queries", "Groovy", "Activation tools", "Dev tools", "Sample"

Create DATA group on demand?

We could actually remove the "Company" app or by default not make it visible. This would empty the DATA group, which would allow us to remove it. We would only add it, when definitions from the former Data module would have been migrated to 5.2.
