 Description

We have several customers which have many editors on the page, it makes no sense to add favorites for every user again and again. It would be nice if there is a way to add favorites systemwide for all users.

Marvin, thanks for your suggestion.

It's something we're considering as well. I have a concern and observation I'd like to see discussed and clarified before we can think about designing a solution for this.

Favorites is your personal space. It is where you can customize and personalize your working environment to best suit your needs. By contrast, the Apps screen delivers installed, provisioned applications, it delivers the tools you work with and thus is mostly static from a user's perspective. Pulse is about the dynamic aspect of your work, the items you and your colleagues are working on, the problems you have to solve, the effect these have on your site.

Under this premise, how would system- or rather group-wide favorites look and work like? Do they look differently? Would I as a user still be allowed to re-shuffle them into my own groups? Would they be collected in unmutable groups, but which I could still move around, maybe even remove? Or would they show up on a separate page in Favorites all altogether?

What is your take on this? Thanks for your feedback.

I think it would be nice if the user can add a shared user-group to the "Add a new group" dialog. If another user is in this group this group is editable like every other group. You can add favorites like every other group and you can remove this Favorites. I think the most teams are working together and also communicate those changes. You can also send a message to all users of the group if someone changed a favorite.

Or in another perspective you have a checkbox in the "Add a new group" dialog. This checkbox has a value "Share with all users"
Then you have a second Tab "Favorites from your colleges" where you see groups from every user. There you cannot change anything. Only the owner of the shared group can change something.

Both approaches are interesting and enough to work with favorites in a team, i prefer the first one, it is more flexible. You can also mix it with a second tab where all shared groups are displayed.

Would be nice if there is a wiki page with some mockups here. Can you arrange that?

Moved ticket to MGNLUI project.

Hi Marvin, sorry for not getting back to you earlier - I've missed the notification mail and didn't have the issue on my radar. I do like your first proposed solution as it sounds simple and easy to understand.

I'm going to assign this to the next major release, as there's at least the potential that we could use group favorites as one of the personalization features (more to come), though realizing them would be of lower priority only.

I won't mock a possible solution now, however, but as soon as the feature itself actually gets on the table. Thanks for your understanding.
