 Description

To reproduce:

  • Log into demo.magnolia-cms.com
  • Edit any page. Note that the page editor state (action bar, header bar) represents the current page.
  • Type "foo" into the search box at top right of page and hit enter. (ie use the demo-site search function).
  • You see the search results page in the editing frame. Note that the header and action bar were not updated.
  • Now, use the navigation and go to another page, eg. FAQ or Glossary.
  • Note that again the UI didn't update.

Now click on "Edit page properties" in the action bar.
Note that you will be editing the page properties of the original page, not the current page.

This doesn't seem to be a problem in Firefox but is an issue in Chrome and Safari. I have not tested IE.

If you don't mind me being picky, I don't like the title of this bug.

The forms are working ok AFAICT, it is the page editor (in chrome and safari) which is failing to follow some page change events in it's Iframe.
I think "pages app doesn't catch all page changes" or something like that might be better? or am I being too nit-picky here?

I agree. I struggled with the title for this one. I wasn't quite happy with it either. For now I will go with your suggestion.

Thanks.

IE10 does not have this problem. Will still try to test on IE8 and IE9.

That is correct. In webkit there is no way to detect frame change events: https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33604

We are currently starting a polling on the ready state of the frame in webkit when clicking on links inside the page to detect the page change. This does not work when using the search function.
See linked tickets for more details.
