IMHO, currently the Magnolia 5 tree view does not clearly indicate the level of nodes in the tree, as there are no vertical lines to guide the eye. E.g. in this tree, on first glance it looks like the node "appName" is located within "availability", but in fact it is on the same level: If you compare this to a "traditional" tree display with vertical lines indicating levels, there is much less potential for confusion: Vertical lines would conflict with the current dotted lines between rows. In the "traditional" view, rows are separated with a very light background that does not conflict with the solid vertical lines. Since Magnolia is all about trees, it is very important to immediately and without doubt determine what level a node is located at, relative to the others... |

jfrantzius Thanks for reporting this and your suggestion. I've linked two issues describing two measures we're taking to remedy this. Together, they'll improve legibility of the tree and the list and actually go beyond what you've suggested. Please have a look and let us know what you think. |
