 Description

The loading indicator for content apps is placed in the middle of the grey area just beyond the trinity icons. This is a good spot as long as there's not many sub apps open or the window size is large enough. Else this indicator can easily overlap with a tab of a sub app. See attached screenshot.

This is not too big an issue for an element, which only appears temporarily, but we should improve it anyway.

At first glance, it looks as if the issue could be quickly fixed by just giving the slider a background. However, the background it rests on is not uniform: the slider sometimes appears on the green background, and it could appear on a light gray tab. We could also move the slider to a different area such as the header, which remains more steady, however there, the options are limited: the header may disappear, so it's not silver bullet, and we can't move such an indicator to the lower 2/3s of the screen as you wouldn't notice it anymore.

The only valid options I see are:

  1. we adapt the existing slider by giving it a slight dark or light border or by assigning it a background
  2. we take a step back and place a (possibly newly developed) slider more prominently and regardless of the background in the upper 1/3 of the screen.

I suggest we go for option 1 first, but mainly because I don't want to make a very big thing about this. I'd actually would prefer to take a step back and go with option 2 by working on this with the visual designers. It would allow me to also (but optionally) have a look at the styling of the Vaadin messages, for which I have some ideas.

I don't think this is an issue anymore or currently. I'm going to cancel this issue.
