 Description

Our default browser on our corporate PC's is Windows 10. In many business units, Compatibility Mode is turned on by DEFAULT. On the admin screen, we can enter username and password, but clicking on Login or pressing Enter does not do anything. It works fine with turning off Compatibility Mode. Is this something that can be fixed?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, "compatibility mode" means making IE-10 behave as IE-7. We never supported IE lower than 8 with Magnolia 5.0+ (also mentioned in supported stack), there is no way we can technically make Magnolia work with IE-7 (or anything that behaves-as/pretends-to-be IE-7).

Similar to websites forcing compatibility mode, I thought we could also force to use edge mode. Obviously current X-UA-Compatible tag (IE=11) doesn't seem to work for this (which surprises me because it's still what Vaadin ships with as of today).

In particular, I'm wondering whether an IE=11 tag forces edge mode on a lower IE version (as opposed to IE=Edge maybe?).
Compatibility mode is a complex topic, it's not systematically falling back to IE7 too, depends what is triggering it.

If there is no change in the end, let's make sure to resolve/close this ticket with proper resolution and fixVersion.

What makes you think there is no change? I see the pull request w/ forcing IE-Edge.

Because I didn't see any mention of it in the comments, I just read that "we don't support it". Great if this helps actually!
—and also because I thought it had to do with bootstrapping of the vaadin app after login.
