 Description

Clicking on the arrow of a Carousel Group ("Teaser in Carousel Group" on "Multimedia" page) make the currently visible component bars disappear in favor of all first-level bars of the "Content" area. Clicking on the arrow should not touch on any of the visible bars: if the component bars of the carousel are visible, they should remain visible; instead, if the first-level bars of the "Content" area are visible, they should remain visible.

Similarly, clicking on one of the numbers in the Paging Group ("Teaser in Paging Group" on "Multimedia" page) should leave the bars alone as well.

If you look at the "Home" page of the Demo project, clicking on the carousel in the stage works exactly like I think these two Groups should work as well. If you click on any of the numbers inside the carousel, nothing happens to the bars currently visible.

While this is annoying, it's not that critical. Demoting the priority of this issue.

This is not a quick fix, moving it to 5.0

This problem still exists in 5.0 - the focus seems to move during a click on the arrows or a button in a carousel. I don't consider this such a big thing, though, and have demoted the issue.

Ultimately, quirky-to-visual-edit components like carousels will be edited in their own popup and edit layout to avoid this and similar issues.

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on issues with a higher impact, and more votes.
Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.
I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If the issue is still relevant please feel free to reopen it or create a new issue.
