 Description

When you use Magnolia 5 Alpha 3 on the iPad for some time, you'll notice frequent crashes. It seems to me that this happens more often whenever I do things quickly:

  • opening the nodes of a tree view fast
  • double-tapping on items
  • quickly navigating in an app in general

While preparing the Miami demo, Boris noticed this as well. As a matter of fact, crashes occurred so frequently that he was close to decide not to do the demo on the iPad.

I'm pretty sure that we didn't have such frequent crashes with our previous, polished release, the dev preview we delivered for the 2012 conference. As a matter of fact, I claim that frequent crashes started to appear with our upgrade to Vaadin 7. But it could also be that this has changed since the release of iOS6 or even iOS 6.1. I can't tell for sure, since we lacked systematic testing on the iPad for long time.

This should be seriously investigated. I've attached a number of crash reports I've collected on an iPad3 running iOS 6.1.2.
