 Description

Current situation

When selecting component templates being added in Page editor, only their name is shown. This can create confusion,

  • if there are two with the same name - probably not likely scenario
  • when copying pasting components from one page detail to another which belong to a different template with a different set of allowed templates.

E.g. copying a "Text and Image" from FTL-sample to an area accepting "Text and Image" components in Tours - these are two different templates, that are called the same and pasting a component from the other is not allowed, understandably.

Desired situation

In certain contexts (to be specified) it might be beneficial to add a suffix to template names like so:

  • Link (mtk)
  • Link (travelDemo)

Magnolia could possibly detect all templates with a name clashing in namespace and add such suffix for those. Or we could show sth more informative than just the name by default.

Acceptance criteria

To be specified

We will look into this as part of our Usability review for "Preview components to help choose the right component with ease" (on productboard
