The Maven Surefile plugin by defaults trims exception stack traces. In e.g. MGNLDAM-990 this lead to the case where a NPE was reported on a reference that was provably non null and the NPE in reality occurred further down the call chain. Since the stack trace trimming can make debugging unnecessarily hard, I suggest to switch it off.
