dmaslanka will follow documentation instructions as if he were a first-time customer and provide feedback on his user experience for step 1 below.
Step 1
-------
Goal: Install Maven and configure the Magnolia Maven settings
How to: Follow the respective links to instructions in the requirements section on this page: https://docs.magnolia-cms.com/product-docs/6.2/Developing/Bundles-and-webapps/Creating-a-custom-webapp-with-Maven.html
The goal is to use his feedback to create a new "Quick start guide for custom DX core webapps" (an epic will be created for this, and I will add further tasks to collect feedback over the next weeks).
In general, the new quick start guide should include minimal explanation (essentially a list of commands or cheat sheet format). Initial ideas were:
- Install JDK (note version 8)
- Install Maven (note Windows version restriction)
- Configure password encryption <command>
- Get DX Core project settings <command>
- Create folder for webapp
- Generate archetype <command> <interaction details>
- Copy over POM to [...location...] <finished POM file>
- ...
so we would duplicate the existing tutorial (https://docs.magnolia-cms.com/product-docs/6.2/Developing/Bundles-and-webapps/Creating-a-custom-webapp-with-Maven/Creating-a-DX-Core-webapp-with-Maven.html) and try to shorten it by: * Bringing some of the credentials content over into ascidoc
- Separating CE from DX Core (quick start guides for each)
- Using finished POM files, leaving out the editing (and linking to the tutorials for more information)
- Maybe linking to the existing how-to tutorials, for example: https://docs.magnolia-cms.com/product-docs/6.2/Connector-Packs/Commerce-Connector-Pack/How-to-configure-a-custom-e-commerce-connector.html
