We implemented Access#isGranted(Session, String, String) in order to move security to JCR-Layer. Unfortunately we have modeled special permissions (e.g. Permission.EXECUTE, Permission.SYNDICATE) that can not yet be covered by the new method as they're not existing in JCR.
